A generally uneventful wk, wif a major event happening yesterday night just b4 lights off. For 3 days, activities were actually planned for us but the commanders(just the commanders) had to go outfield for training in prep for our battalion outfield nxt wk(sianz, 4 days 3 nights lehz, somemore I kana guard duty on monday night). For these 3 days, tues, wed and thurs, all we did the whole aftnoon was kunz (dialect for sleep, hehe). On tuesday, we got a nights off and we went to JP to celebrate our PC tank driver's b-day. As usual, we reached there and the whole group stopped somewhere in the shopping centre thinking where we shud have our meal. We initially planned for Crystal Jade but there was a long queue and we couldn't really afford the time to just queue so we walked a little more and THE PIZZA PlACE was just beside the computer shop beside Crystal Jade. To add more reasons to why we chose tt place, there were 10 seats available for us (just nice for our whole grp) and we settled on eating there. They had an offer which ended that day which was value-for-money and so the whole grp shared 3 large pizzas(buy 2 get 1 free mahz) and everyone ordered their own drinks. We ended up paying ard $9 per person(how worthwhile was that sia!). We shopped ard and I managed to buy MY GIRL vcd for just $9.90 (a happy day for me indeed, I've just finished watching the show anyway, very cute, haha =P).
Since we had nothing much to do for the 3 days, we spent a lot of time toking cok and duno for what reason, my platoon mates were suddenly giving everyone a female christian name! (guess some of them are really desperate? haha) Lol, some of the names I can remember are Catherine, Serena(wierd name, due to mispronounciation of Selena), Winnie, Rose-Mary(he was initially called mary, he wanted to change it, someone suggested Rose and it led to rose-mary, haha, purposely give him a name that sounds terrible!!!), Jamie, Adeline, Lucy, Evonne and Pamela(for me, just because I have a 'P' in my name, haha -_-"). We even had 'code-names' given to our sergeants namely Michelle, Sally and Xena(haha, wat a name!). We use these code-names very carefully so as not to let our sergeants know but I guess it won't be long b4 they find out! (lol)
The major happening of the wk occured yesterday just b4 lights off like I said earlier on. We'll be having our army half-marathon (AHM) on sunday in which we'll have to gather at the Esplanade by 6am (really early sia). Last night during our last parade, to our shock and disappointment, those running 21km(which includes the b-tankees), have to book in at 1800hrs tml!! Hai, how can we suddenly accept the reality that our saturday night and sunday morn will be taken away!?! Some of us decided to go see our PS about it to see whether we have the option to opt out of the 21km and run the 12km instead cos for the 12km runners, they don't have to book in on saturday and can still claim the monday-off. As usual, our PS, who is very lousy at expressing himself, couldn't seem to get our point of view and talked a lot about his point of view but maybe he din realise he was actually talking crap which did not make sense at all. Understanding that, when he came, I din bother to explain much, haha. We had to 'argue' with him for a while (1/2hr actually) b4 he consulted our PC. *sigh* our PC was of course, disappointed with our sudden request to withdraw, breaking our initial promise to run the 21km as a platoon. The point is, when we agreed to run 21km, no one told us that our saturday would be taken away lorz, had we known, we won't have agreed to it and so for the men, we felt cheated and were rather 'unhappy' last night. Much to my surprise and sadness, our PC couldn't hide his unhappiness as well and his words to us last night were rather sarcastic and bitter(a bit exaggerated but more or less there larz, =P). He eventually gave us the option to opt out but ended with the words, "If you want to opt out, I can go thru' all the trouble to get you out but you guys note that you're sending me a msg lorz, what msg it is you interpret yourselves" (not the exact words but the meaning is there larz...) Doesn't that sound threatening?!? We spent another 1/2 hr discussing it in our bunk until 11.30pm when a sergeant from another platoon passed by our bunk twice and on the 2nd occasion, strongly adviced us to go to sleep lorz, cos it was already past our lights off timing (he's not wrong). This late morn, our PC approached us again and his words were still slightly threatening lorz(in my perspective, and I'm not very happy about it, but bo bian larz, lan lan suck thumb...). After much discussion, most of us decided to run the 21km(have to bk in at 1800hrs on saturday larz) but there were 3 who still persisted in not running(their own decision). During the discussion, our PC psycho-ed us to make our own individual decisions lorz, cos we usually do the group thing (as he called it) which means our decision is affected by the group (tt means like if 1 says 'no', more 'no's would come lorz). After everyone made his decision known, he immediately announced the 'benefit' which he initially said will be given to those who ran 21km (he din say wat the benefit was initially larz, but it seems to many of us this 'benefit' is just to gek those who din agree to running 21km lorz, very jialat for them although logically it seems fair...). Those booking in tml at 1800hrs, that is, the 21km runners, were given the 'benefit' of booking out early this aftnoon (which we did at 1400hrs earlier on larz). Those who opted not to run the 21km had to stay back to help do servicing for our tanks to prep them for the outfield nxt wk...until evening time and dinner had to be taken b4 they can book out (hai, they had quite a long discussion with the PC after the 'benefit' was announced lorz, duno if they're in more 'trouble' or not larz...).
A rather misfortunate incident for our tankees between the men and the commanders, isn't it?
