lake holmz
Well, now I'm down at my new house every wkend, moving some of our stuff over and also doing some cleaning up and unpacking over there cos it gets very dirty aft the workers have helped us do up the place on the wkdays.
Learnt some really interesting stuff eh, such as how the false ceiling (din noe of such stuff til now, stupid me :p) helps conceal some of the wiring for the lightings. It starts off wif the construction of the metal frames around the area of the false ceiling...

Then they'll fix up the boards jus like how it has been done below...the pic above was taken at my living room, and the one below taken in my room but they're the same stuff eh, false ceiling, lol.
Then finally, they'll do some plastering to hide those gaps between the boards (those visible lines on the "ceiling") before the whole room gets a fresh coat of paint. Then once the lightings are fixed up, wala, 3 wkends at Lake Holmz seeing how the work has progressed and the photo below was taken just a few hours back, lol. Sweet, now all that's left is the carpentry and my house is more or less ready for us to move in!

martins in oba-drive!
Its funny how newspaper columnists or webmasters like to play ard with footballer's names to make attention capturing headlines. It used to be "Shear class!" all the time when they wana report abt Alan Shearer and now it's Martin's turn, lol. Yup yup, my beloved Newcastle won a match against the odds! Singapore Pools gave Newcastle the odds of 4.4 to win, and they did! Muahaha!
Newcastle has been underperforming this season, hovering at 15th spot coming into this match against Spurs. Injury-wrecked, Newcastle had to rely on the likes of Taylor, Ramage, Huntington and Pattison, all graduates of Newcastle's academy, barely 20, to help ease the team through an injury plagued season.
Both teams played average initially. Spurs only started playing good football when they're in the lead, courtesy of Defoe but it was cancelled out very quickly by Huntington's first senior goal for the club and Tottenham were back to their average, kinda messy football. Newcastle started to get a foothold in the game, only to finish the first half 1-1.
In the 2nd half, Newcastle fell asleep as usual, and were struggling to stop Tottenham's attacks as they chase for a lead, with Solano blocking a few goal-bound shots and Given pulling off good saves as he usually do. However, Spurs took the lead again through Berbatov when Solano blocked a shot and the ball fell nicely in front of him in the box.
Newcastle displayed great character and determination and their efforts paid off when Martins scored a scorcher from 20yards out into roof of the net in the 72nd minute with Paul Robinson rendered hopeless. It left Spurs stunned and before they could recover from the shock, Martins passed an inviting throughball to Nicky Butt running into the box who scored a Owen-type goal, slotting the ball to the far post from the righthand side. Newcastle finally won Lady Luck's heart when Defoe's shot clipped Given's righthand post. Newcastle fully deserved the win for their efforts.
Gotta learn to dig in and work hard eh, hahaha. Grind my good results out if I have to!

along came sem 2...
A last outing wif my long-time-no-see friends just before the sch term starts. Yintung's going back to the US again, for 1 last time perhaps, to complete her undergrad studies and maybe move back here permanently, why not eh? Haha, all her friends are here anyway.
Well, everyone seems to have changed frm her perspective, and rightfully so eh, haven't seen her for almost 7 years! Her character hasn't changed much but she's definitely picked up the Amercian slang, haha, something impossible to avoid after being there for so long...

Oh well, finally home aft a long but enjoyable day out, sang quite a few songs at K-box wif them, went way out of tune trying to reach the highest note for Ren Cuo. So paiseh sia! (never mind lar, amongst friends anyway rite? Keke) Back to sch tml! Recharged and raring to go! (see how far this high morale can last me, hahaha)

new home!
Yup, dad just got the keys to our new home.. Lots of work to be done before we move in eh... dad will be doing the heavy lifting of course, in charge of designing and getting all the furniture, haha, the rest of us? Pack up prep to move house lor, lol. Thought I'd take some pics of our house when we first got it and how it'll be like when the interior has been done up eh, muahaha.

Well, here's our living room, wif tt 2 "ong lais" rolled in by us for good luck. Duno lar, my mum's side the relatives quite superstitious and told her to do this. Just a little effort so just do lor, hahaha, no harm anyway.
Heh, here's my room. Duno which angle to take from also, cos the room square and small, haha. Well, only realise how troublesome it is to get a new home eh, all the budgets to stick to, all the bank loans, all the electricity and gas stuff, all the packing of our old stuff to move just to name a few...

hmm...new yr resolutions?
The short term ones are giving me hell of a headache. 5 or 6 mods?!?! I've opted for 5 but it just doesn't feel good knowing there're really quite a lot of ppl taking 6. Oh well, make a decision and live with it! (I guess) Sem 1 results haven't been as good as I had hoped, so I guess my short term New Yr resolution is simple, pull my cap up!
Another short term goal, which is currently being fulfilled, is to do something besides studying during sch term. I kinda felt my first sem in uni was a disaster. Without a CCA, sch life was pathetically boring! Bored til i wana puke my guts out. Yup, so with Wen You's recruitment, I'm in mkting com for Sports Camp '07. Hope to have fun, know more ppl and learn something new from it.
Well, I'd also like to resume my hobby of reading. I was fortunate to have a bunkmate who also loves reading during my army time. While ppl were slacking around, listening to radio, chit-chatting, there're times when him and I would just be on our beds, reading. You can really learn a lot very quickly frm reading eh. All the research results or life experience of the authors right there, summarised for us to learn.
Probably another 2 mths before I move into my new house at Lakeside eh, I wana commit myself to keep my room sparkling clean. Yup, life has been kind of a chore without a maid, literally eh, keke. Now I hafta do the laundry, boil water for drinking and also wash the dishes at the sink. Doesn't sound like a lot eh, but I've never done all that before sia, hahaha. Guess I've been a spoilt brat after all. Getting used to it le. =P
Well, since I'm moving in to condo, its nice to have a swimming pool and gym at my doorstep eh. Hope I can keep myself fit that way ba. (1/2 commitment here, keke)
Last but not least, I hope to be a more understanding, better person. Been kinda angry deep down inside with some ppl eh. That was due to my failure to put myself in their shoes, my bad my bad. =(

happy new yr!
Happy new year! Another PA outing to usher in the new year.(3rd time I'm counting down to the new year wif PA ppl, haha) Had a meal at PS and after that, it was all about walking, walking and more walking. We literally walked into the new year eh. We initially thought of having the count down at Esplanade but we were there with 3 hrs to spare and rain drops on our hands sort of hinted at us to move off and that's what we did.
After walking back to City Link via Marina Square, we made a decision to go back to Esplanade and at City Link there was a "human jam". Man, it was really hot there. We managed to squeeze out of the crowd and from Raffles City, we walked again, and ended up counting down outside Parliament House. Well, the fireworks were beautiful, perfect if not for the Parliament House blocking half our view. Maybe they should relocate it...
Well, 2006 went by in a breeze, really can't imagine I was still a NSF barely a year back, clearing leave, doing all those COS and guard duties. Finished Sem 1 in uni already! Hopefully 2007 would be a better year for me. Here's to everyone. *cheers*
