81 Hmm, my family and relatives celebrated my grandpa's 81st b-day in advance yesterday at a chinese restaurant. Such annual gatherings are always very nice as we get to catch up wif our relatives whom we might not have met for mths. It was a nice break from the tension and stress that's building up within the family as my grandpa's health is deteriorating. How fast things can change! Less than 2 mths back, he was still the strong-willed perfectionist who takes charge of buying ingredients home for cooking our meals. Now, he's too weak to even walk short distances. He enjoys reading the chinese newspapers but now, it's quite tiring for him to do so. I got to sit at the same table wif him (usually not the case) and it's the first time in my life I see him being really senile. Age has finally caught up wif him and it's clearly shown. Well, sheng-lao-bing-si is a known life-cycle to the chinese which can nvr be avoided and I guess he's nearing the final 2 stages. Although I try to be mentally prepared, I know it isn't going to be easy for me when IT happens. Well, hopefully he really lives life to the fullest these days and can enjoy as much as he can. posted by sc @
