bang bang! Home finally!! After not booking out last wkend due to live-firing(tank) for the tankees in which i din even get to fire a blank round, we went for our atp(advanced training package) for 3 days(wed, thur, fri) where we fired the SAR21 which is the new personal weapon for soldiers. We went to SAFTI live-range to conduct the test which was only done on the 2nd and 3rd day. On the 1st day, we had to zero our weapons (meaning adjust the aiming to suit individual's eyes, it's different for everyone). As there were approx 130++ people, we spent most of the time waiting for our turn to come. Luckily for me, i brought along the bk Prey by Michael Crichton to read. Much to my pleasure, i managed to finish the bk in the 3days(lol, too much free time, dun feel like sleeping, so read a lot lorz). I did my zeroing quite well and so the shooting that i did were generally fine but for my practices and the trial test, i screwed up my day-shoot cos i din manage to find the right place to aim on the targets for the different distances we were supposed to shoot from. On the 2nd day night, we had our night-shoot test. I did very well(in my perspective) scoring 13/16. In total, we had to take 40 shots and in order to get 'marksman', we had to score higher than 32. I already taken 3 out of the maximum of 8 mistakes i can make!! Furthermore, i only managed a pass for my day-shoot trial test in the morn. I knew i had a chance but it was quite slim. On the 3rd day, i took my day-shoot test. There were 4 distances we had to shoot from and we had to 'run' from each station to the nxt on cue(immediately aft we've finished firing frm tt station). On the 1st station, I missed my last of 6 shots and was beginning to feel a bit gan cheong le, can only make 4 more mistakes!! On my 2nd station(where i previously only shot 2/6), i surprisingly found the exact spot where i shud aim but again, i missed 1 of the 6 shots!! That's only 3 more mistakes!! I ran to the 3rd station where we had to shoot moving targets(i dun do very well here for all my practices and trial test) and surprisingly, i kept my calm and controlled my breath(out of breath aft running fast lorz, everyone got this prob wanz, it's whether u can overcome it when u're shooting, i luckily did!), and took down all of the 3 moving targets! For the nxt 3 stationary targets, i missed 1 more shot!! that left me wif 2 more mistakes i can afford but i knew my 'marksman' was very near le. For my last station, I couldn't recall if i scored all or missed one but i got my 'marksman'! Haha, that earned me an additional $200 on top of my nxt mths pay le..very happy...it means quite a lot to me cos all that is required of me as a soldier i've not performed good enough but finally i've done something i can b proud of as a soldier, hehe. posted by sc @
