Hmm, and so Man Utd wins the curtain raiser to the EPL, the Community Shield. It was quite an interesting game, with both sides getting to play their teams including the new players in a "competitive" match.
Man Utd looked the sharper side while an individual effort frm Malouda, Chelsea's only multi-million pound signing of the summer, equalised Man Utd's lead by captain Ryan Giggs. It was a good game to watch (besides the fact tt it's been 3mths of exile from football) but the penalty shootout was kinda strange as Van der Sar saved 3 penalties taken by Chelsea for Man Utd to win the match.
It was strange because when Chelsea were 2 goals down in the shootout, the camera flashed to the Chelsea bench and there, on TV, was Mourinho looking unconcerned and in fact, winking at somebody else with a smile. Well, this cup is insignificant of course, and there's a believe that winning this cup is a curse which results in the team not winning the EPL.
The other disturbing thing is the way the penalties were taken by the Chelsea players and the fact that new-signing Pizarro taking the 1st penalty. All the Chelsea players casually stroked the ball mid-height to one side of Van der Sar which could be easily saved, ALL OF THEM. It seemed as though Chelsea purposely lost the penalty shootout. Wierd feeling. =.=
