butterfly effect

Remember the show The Butterfly Effect starring Ashton Kutcher in 2003? It was in my opinion quite a good show cos it re-emphasises (ever so often by anywhere, anything else) that we should never try to change history, even if we possess the power to travel through time back to the past, mainly due to the reason that changing history usually has a rippling effect.

Those stuff we could figure out by giving it a thought logically but little did I knew then tt the title already suggests that. Only after a recent IT1005 lecture where Prof Saif used Matlab and did some very interesting 3D graph plotting about Chaos Theory did I understood the "butterfly effect" which Wikipedia explains as small variations of the initial condition of a nonlinear dynamical system may produce large variations in the long term behavior of the system.

I just sorta wonder whether luan4 zhong1 you3 xu4 came from here as well, tsktsk.
